Welcome to the International Finnsheep Registry (IFR)! We are more than a just another registry. The IFR was formed specifically to serve the needs of Finnsheep breeders and Finnsheep product producers world-wide. We serve as an educational resource for those seeking to learn more about Finnsheep, one of the world's most versatile sheep breeds. While membership is specifically designed to meet the needs of Finnsheep breeders, our varied membership options allow any Finnsheep enthusiast to find an IFR membership that best suits their needs. The International Finnsheep Registry is staffed by experienced representatives committed to the preservation and promotion of the Finnsheep breed. Your input, thoughts and ideas are important to us and you are guaranteed a courteous, professional response! We respond positively to the needs of our Finnsheep breeders and members, providing them with exclusive benefits not found with other registries. This allows our members access to educational and marketing materials that allow them to grow their Finnsheep businesses successfully.
In keeping with our vision of preserving Finnsheep worldwide through
the Finnsheep's ability to penetrate a larger number of markets, we have developed unique programs designed to increase the Finnsheep's marketability. Our traditional registry records purebred animals from all recognized Finnsheep registries worldwide. Purebreds receive high quality registration papers with the IFR's unique seal. The IFR Breed Improvement Program allows for the addition of scrapie resistant genetics and our Recapture Program allows those with currently non-registered Finnsheep flocks to work towards the restoration of their flock's registration status. The IFR does not utilize an open-registry "Breed-Up" program although it recognizes that other registries may have utilized such a program in the development of the Finnsheep breed within their own region or country.

The IFR Mission Statement clearly outlines the IFR's committment to having its representatives work alongside Finnsheep breeders in a supportive manner. We believe that by better supporting our members, they will be able to successfully produce, market and sell their Finnsheep products in an ever expanding marketplace. By creating a demand for Finnsheep and Finnsheep products, the breed can be preserved for future generations.
